Patreon is an online service that allows various creatives a way to get paid for their work. Through Patreon, fans can support their favorite creatives by becoming a patron (sponsor). This sponsorship is mutually beneficial as Patreon gives creators a way to reward fans via a “reward” system.

How it works

Once a musician create their Patreon page, they can select their payment method as being either subscription-based or pay-per-creation. This way, musicians control how often their patrons pay them.

Fans can become patrons by choosing various rewards created by the musician. For example, a musician may offer three tiers of rewards to choose from: $5, $10, $25. Each tier would have different rewards. Note that the more costly rewards are more exclusive by nature. Take advantage of this!

A Musician’s Partner

Patreon can give musicians an addition source of revenue. It can also act as a way to easily interact with your most loyal fanbase. These two features alone make Patreon a good platform for musicians.

To get started, I suggest promoting your Patreon page on your website and social media pages. This way, fans of yours can be notified about this opportunity and can decide either to support you in this way or not. Once your Patreon page is completely set up, remember to post your content on the page as people will now be paying you for your content!

Note that we here at Music Machine use Patreon as one of the two ways we support sponsorship. It has been a great help in providing us the resources we need to continue giving valuable content to music industry professionals.

Overall, musicians can benefit from using Patreon as it provides an additional source of income, an easy way to interact with fans, and promotes healthy relationships between musicians and their fans.
